“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26-27
No motivational speaker has ever uttered such words. None. JESUS is no motivational speaker. He does not mince words. He IS the WORD. He does not parse truth. He IS the TRUTH.
All other attachments will perish. He who does the will of God will have eternal life.
This is discipleship.

Note well what is set before you
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30
