Parables & Paroimia

Jesus used this PAROIMIA, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. John 10:6

Also John 16:25 & 29

(Note: To my knowledge, John does not use the word parable anywhere.)

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Of them the PAROIMIA are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.” 2 Peter 2:1‭, ‬22

Note

Also, mark this date 1/10/21 as the date when I just for the first time am following up on a connection from one of the brothers (perhaps RJ or AB) who mentioned the Amplified to me in passing a few weeks ago. I’ve known of and occasionally referred to the Amplified for years but have never really even thought to look into it. I’ve even used OJB! This may have been right up my alley all along. Looking to understand the authentic WORD, our Living Logos.

Amplified Bible
The Amplified Bible is a Literal Equivalent translation that, by using synonyms and definitions, both explains and expands the meaning of words in the text by placing amplification in parentheses, brackets, and after key words. This unique system of translation allows the reader to more completely and clearly grasp the meaning as it was understood in the original languages. Additionally, amplifications may provide further theological, historical, and other details for a better understanding of the text.
