There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun (y-sh-r-n same root ‘save’ as y-s-r-l and y-sh-a), who rideth upon the heaven in thy help (ezer: aid), and in his excellency (gaavah: exaltation) on the sky. The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved (same root as yeshua) by the Lord, the shield of thy help (ezer: aid), and who is the sword of thy excellency (gaavah: exaltation)! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places. Deuteronomy 33:26-29
Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. Hebrews 3:1-6
Moses was great.
Wow!
More than 5 years since a dear friend began asking me, following a message, to share more insight about the Rose of Sharon.
I had none.
Without any thought of this, I just had the name Sharon leap off the page as I read today’s WTW chapter Isaiah 65. This was related to another study. Still, the Rose of Sharon inquiry, from all those years ago, did not even so much as arise in my recollection. But then I did a quick search for Rose of Sharon, not thinking of that earlier inquiry, and a result gave a great breakdown of the different Hebrew & Greek words variously rendered as Sharon. At this, I finally recalled that years-past inquiry and prepared to share the insights. Then, I also entered Sharon in Bible hub and received another surprise on finding the primitive root yashar. I immediately recognized that from this recent word study here above, but it didn’t seem possible that it was the same word. So I double checked and sure enough, it is even obvious from the way I posted the transliteration of the Hebrew poetic nickname: y-sh-r-n. There it is, yet another layer of connections.
Sharon is also Israel.
