JOY Club

I will always be moved deeply to the core whenever I read this verse because of the powerful season of ministry it covered and now represents for all time in my heart.

I delight greatly in YAHWEH; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe OF his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her JEWELS. Isaiah 61:10

Ask me here and I will share the story.

Get on your knees today, and ask Jesus how you can reach out to others and make a lasting impact on their lives and walk with God.

  1. We have a heart for children and youth. We always have. This is true today, and it was no less true 25 years ago.

We were doing life, serving and living, reaching out and imparting life and the good news of Jesus with families and children, youth and the needy, all who were hungry for the Savior in this inner city community.

My better half wanted to start a discipleship group for a number of the young girls, and so as we were driving along one day we were brainstorming ideas and ways to help reach and disciple these precious ones. One of the words tossed around as a possible focus with these girls and a possible name was JOY, possibly considering the common acronym yet also considering other names thinking about the admonitions in Titus 2 as well as from Peter for young women. The testimony of Esther was also a clear model for purity as a focus for the group.

Some of the brainstorming touched on ways to discuss hygiene and beauty, purity and matters of the heart, all geared toward young girls and young ladies. Thinking about the word JOY, we brainstormed a number of possible acronyms including various words, one of which was jewelry. A short while later after our drive, I did a couple verse searches and this verse practically LEAPED off the page.

So this was how the girls discipleship, purity and mentoring group JOY Club was born!

This was just the beginning of many more young hearts and lives touched and forever transformed to be jewels for Jesus, jewels for Yeshua.

Many more testimonies continue growing from these early planted seeds.

  2. To my knowledge, none of these life stories have been finished being written, but the most significant is Jo-, who came from a single parent home. I should try to write more of her story, even as it is still being written, because her and her family continue to be a common topic among us. Even just last night we talked about how much her and her sister remind us, when they were in JOY Club, of two daughters of one among our own numbers today. Jo- and her sisters and older brothers, though, always stood out as striking examples of God’s grace because, from the midst of destitute circumstances, God’s abundant mercy and grace was so clear, evidenced in the joy and sincerity in these precious young people. Now in their early to mid 30s, God continues to have His hand on their lives, and so we thank Him for his abundant grace and mercy.
