2 Peter 2
“God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to Tartarus.” 2 Peter 2:4a
We have the firm promise that we will experience deceptive times. These are times when it seems we stand alone. Times when all around seem to agree that we have gone too far, and are claiming to stand for something that is false, that we are the ones deceived and advocating for a teaching that is outdated, Pharisaical. That last comment there is always a way to cause us to think twice. And we should. We should think twice. Better yet, we are to test the spirits. And we are given many litmus tests. We are given a more sure WORD. And by this WORD, we are able to test and see what is true and good.
Love & Truth do go hand in hand. We must have both. Grace & Truth. Mercy & Truth have kissed. Love is not love. God is love. And JESUS is the Way, JESUS is the Truth & JESUS is the Life.
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Psalm 85:10
Love (chesed) and faithfulness (emeth) meet together; righteousness (tsedeq) and peace (shalom) kiss each other.

Chesed & Emeth have met
Tsedeq & Shalom have kissed
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to Tartarus, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.” 2 Peter 2:1,4,9,14,18-22

Note: It is interesting that the opening verse here today says angels rather than demons or unclean spirits
Mat 12:43 unclean spirit (akatharton pneuma)
Luke 4:41 demons (daimonia)
2 Pet 2:4 angels (angelōn)

Hebrew word is sheol
LXX Greek word for sheol is katabēsē

See Matthew 11:23 & Luke 10:15
But the Hebrew phrase “yarketay baor” at the end of verse 15 means the farthest recess of the pit.
This correlates precisely to the Greek meaning of Tartarus which is only used in 2 Peter 2:4
And so we have
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to Tartarus, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment… 2 Peter 2:4
How you have fallen from heaven, shining son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! But you are brought down to Sheol (the realm of the dead), to [Tartarus] the farthest depths of the pit. Isaiah 14:12, 15

Rough notes here but I found a lot more in my notes what I was recalling that is also evident in Jonah’s prayer in chapter 2.
He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry. You hurled me into the depths, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit.
