Amen. It is as if God is allowing adversity in our lives even when we may have done every good in order to remind us that we are not to settle east of Jordan. We are not home yet. God’s mercy is such that is goes so far beyond our understanding. He is willing to rock our boats in order to help us to realize that there is something far better for us in the new heavens and new earth. “And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” Hebrews 11:39-40.

Satan super-planned this assault on Job: coordinating the timing of several different groups of people and weather so that servants would show up one after another. How overwhelming! I was overwhelmed just reading about it…I can’t imagine how Job didn’t completely break down and almost lose his mind. Yet, he had a relationship with God.

  3. Are we understanding this paradox right so far?

    Here is the question

Is the reason for God’s rebuke in Job ultimately that these men all questioned God? That is to say, despite all the wisdom that all 5 of these wise and sometimes godly men speak, in the end, does that simply earn them all God’s rebuke? And specifically is that rebuke because none of what they say is true and wise or because it is contaminated by doubt?

    What is going on here?

Let’s be sure we understand the message of this book of Scripture…

I have always thought there was great wisdom in many things all these men say. I think I have been duped all these years, merely mesmerized by mere words. Is it rather true that though many of their words sound good, that they in reality actually have no clue what they are talking about?

    Is that what’s going on?

Looking a bit closer at chapter 4, that seems exactly the case.

That seems to be exactly the case

As one pointed out, words have to be evaluated in the big picture, and words can only be rightly understood in the context of the Divine Council…

    This point is clear

    Don’t miss this

    Here it is…

In this book, we have the luxury of seeing chapters 1-2 from God’s perspective. We have seen the Divine Council. Job and his friends did not. And none of them know about it and none of them have it revealed to them. So take this Eliphaz in chapter 4 for example. He is almost sounding like a fortune teller, saying things that sound intriguing. But he says nothing about the Divine Council, nothing about what in reality and truth is behind Job’s suffering. So these reasons and thoughts are completely irrelevant to Job’s situation.

    He says, for example

If God places no trust in his servants, if he charges his angels with error…
    Job 4:18

It’s like so many things we hear everyday in our lives and God help us not to do the same.

People who really have NO CLUE what they are talking about offering guidance and insight, wisdom and knowledge, life coaching, who really have no clue about even the simplest facts in the situation. None of the earthly friends and counselors have any clue about the reality which has actually taken place and is taking place and certainly what is coming to take place yet tomorrow and beyond.

So this may be the message here which I don’t think I have ever heard or seen or noticed before.

None of what they say is actually wisdom in the big picture at all because it is not even based on knowing let alone understanding what even happened and is happening in the spirit realm, in heaven before God in truth and in fact.

This puts things in a whole new light of truth here. This underscores the fact that we now see through a glass darkly and that we must allow God’s WORD to be that lamp unto our feet and light unto our path so that even when we do not know or understand the big picture, still when we walk according to his instructions like Abraham not even knowing where he was going…HE knows…so when HE does not reveal to us the current happenings in the Divine Council (and God forbid that any should foolishly speak things as a fortune teller prophet speaking lies) we can yet walk in full assurance according to HIS WORD because his WORD is true and faithful and a trustworthy lamp to guide our steps down here in this journey of faith, albeit dark around us, we can see clearly now the rain is falling and light is shining.
