One thought on “The Preacher

  1. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
    Galatians 1:10

These were JESUS instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Mark 6:8

This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. 1 Corinthians 4:1

Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God. 2 Corinthians 2:17

Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 2 Corinthians 6:4

    Then as now
Those who are entrusted with the message are the lowly
    The despised
    That is, the servants

JESUS sent them as He has sent us
Those who obey His voice now are the same as those who obeyed His voice then
    Never the esteemed, the exalted
Always those who are the least, the servants, the despised, the rejected
Because those who live and love as He did are rejected by the world as He was

He said take nothing for the journey

And this calling is always consistent with the fact that those who answer this call always look like those who answered the call then
