Types of Fear
F1. Fear (phobeó) to put to flight, to terrify, frighten
F2. Startling (ptoésis) a fluttering, excitement, hence terror
Types of Prayer
P1. Prayers (prosooxhay) regular prayer
P2. Entreaties (daysis) desperate prayer
P3. Petitions (entooxhais) intercession
P4. Supplication (hiketéria) supplication
P5. Appeal (entugchanó) to chance upon, confer, entreat, intercede, plead
Types of Thanksgiving
E1. Thanksgiving (eucharistia) thankfulness, giving thanks (NOTE: Eucharist: communion)
Ephesians 6:18
And pray (P1) in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers (P1) and requests (P2). With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying (P2) for all the Lord’s people.
1 Peter 3:6-7 (Randy’s paraphrasing)
6 Sarah…obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You have become her children doing good and not being terrified (F1) by anything frightening (F2). 7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers (P1).
1 Timothy 2:1
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions (P2), prayers (P1), intercession (P3) and thanksgiving (E1) be made for all people.
Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers (P2) and petitions (P4) with fervent cries and tears (kraugēs ischyras kai dakryōn) to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
Romans 8:27
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes (P5) for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Entreaties – heart-felt petition, arising out of deep personal need
Prayers – exchange of wishes
Petitions or intercessions- waiting upon the Lord to learn what hits the mark (i.e. what is His will)
Thanksgivings – giving of thanks for God’s grace

Are you struck like I am with the depth and detail of instruction about prayer including all these varied and multifaceted terms? It is almost like prayer includes all the depth and variety of concepts we have in the entire field of communications… HELLO!
One brother connected here told me a couple months ago that some terms for prayer even convey the understanding of such communication modes as interview
