For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In an effort to understand spiritual things, natural man has long sought a one to one correlation between a physical component and a spiritual portion. These terms can be useful in part but the WORD alone precisely divides between these things.

Material – Immaterial
Physical – Spiritual
Heart – Soul
Brain – Mind
Bones – Will
Kidneys – Emotions
Marrow – Health
Muscles – Strength

Kidney: figurative, as seat of emotion and affection
