Messianic Crucifixion Prophecies & Types

Here are just some of the Old Testament (Tawrat, Zabur–Mezmur) prophecies which pointed to the crucifixion of the Messiah Who was to come from the very beginning. There are so many more, and Yeshua Messiah Himself quoted these and many others about Himself during his life, at his crucifixion and after His resurrection. Messiah Yeshua also taught His disciples even more of these from the scriptures, so then they also taught and recorded these in the New Testament (evangel–injeel) scriptures as written and according to the Old Testament scriptures.

Single verses, short passages and excerpts are quoted below. For full chapters, links are included for your convenience so you can simply click the links to read the full passages.

From Adam (4000 years before Messiah)

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:14‭-‬15‬
[14] So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. [15] And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

To Noah (2500 years before Messiah)

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:17‭-‬18‬
[17] I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. [18] But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

To Abraham (2000 years before Messiah)

Genesis 22:1-18 (link to full passage)

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:1‭-‬2‬ (excerpt)
[1] Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. [2] Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

To Job (~1500 years before Messiah)

To Moses (1300 years before Messiah)

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭21:22‭-‬23‬
[22] If someone guilty of a capital offense is put to death and their body is exposed on a pole, [23] you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. Be sure to bury it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse. You must not desecrate the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

To David (1000 years before Messiah)

Psalm 2Psalm 16Psalm 22

‭‭Psalm 22:14‭-‬18‬
[14] I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me. [15] My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. [16] Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. [17] All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. [18] They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.
[24] For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.

To Jonah (800 years before Messiah)

Jonah 2 (must read surah & see this study)

‭‭Jonah‬ ‭2:2‭-‬3‬
[2] He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead [sheol] I called for help, and you listened to my cry. [3] You hurled me into the depths [cf. abyss], into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me.
[6] To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit [cf. tartarus].

To Isaiah (700 years before Messiah)

Isaiah 53 (* A MUST READ SURAH! *)

Isaiah 53:7b says, “He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep is silent before shearers, He never said a word.”

To Daniel (600 years before Messiah)

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭9:22‬
[22] He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding.
[24] “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
[26] After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ Messiah will be put to death, but not for himself. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.

To Zechariah (500 years before Messiah)

‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭12:10‬
[10] “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”

Zechariah 13:7 is the scripture Jesus quoted: “God will strike the shepherd and his sheep will scatter.”

  1. A Messianic Dialogue

    [RAM]
I know I have shared with you how the prophets from Adam on declare in the scriptures the death of Messiah Yeshua. Here is the link to a page [wtw messianic crucifixion prophecies] which will show how the prophets spoke about Messiah Who was to come to be the sacrifice and make an end to sin.

    [AM]
I can understand how they’re talking about the Messiah, but could you evaluate how they mentioned that he’s dying for the sins of mankind?

    [RAM]
Prophet Yeshaya wrote the following by the WORD of the Almighty, and this being 700 years before Messiah

    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‭-‬12‬
[5] But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. [6] We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. [7] He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. [8] By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. [9] He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. [10] Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. [11] After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. [12] Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

    [AM]
Wow, considering these verses come from the book of Isaiah, they’re very powerful
However one part of it confuses me
“He will see his offspring and prolong his days”
Jesus died at around 30 and had no children

    [RAM]
    Excellent question
The Hebrew word there actually means seed
He had no earthly children but because of His victory over death, He opened the way for all Who come to God to be born again by the same seed which scripture says is the WORD of God. In this way, these also become sons of God and in this way these are His seed, His offspring because He was the first born among many.

    [AM]
But then in Exodus 4:22 it says that Israel is the first born son of God

    [RAM]
God made it clear to Pharaoh by saying this in that standoff that it was going to be God’s firstborn Israel or Egypt’s first born of every family

    [AM]
But that’s what confuses me, who is the firstborn son? Israel or Jesus? And is “son” a word to describe a literal dna child or is it a figurative term?

    [RAM]
There is only one first man Adam

There is only one firstborn chosen people. That is the people Israel.

There is only one eternal Son of God. That is Jesus

In these ways, each of these terms have a specific meaning but only the reference to the eternal Son of God is ever used regarding the unique figure of Messiah

    [AM]
So Jesus would biologically be the son of God?

    [RAM]
Well not biological because that means natural life, bios

This is why His nature is known to be the prophecied Son of God known even before hand by the prophets and his earthly nature is obviously human

Jesus is the Son of God by the Spirit, born of woman

    [AM]
Alright that makes sense. But with that in mind, how was Adam born? He had no mother nor father. Was it not the spirit of God that gave life to Adam?

    [RAM]
God breathed life into Adam and that earthly life is given to each of us by God also in our human spirit and soul. Jesus, on the other hand did not receive earthly life through an earthly father like all of us. His Spirit is the Spirit of God.

Jesus is called the second Adam to show the clear difference in this

Adam received life from God by His Spirit, and Adam sinned

Jesus, however, though born of a virgin thus becoming one of us in His humanity was the eternal WORD of God Who became flesh and dwelt among us, Emmanuel, God with us. And He did NO sin.

Thus, by the first Adam sin entered the world. By Jesus Who is considered in a manner of speaking, the second Adam, sin was conquered so that through Him, all who receive God’s free gift of rebirth may also be free from the law of sin and death to the glory of God the Father.

    [AM]
But then why did Jesus have to die for our sins? If we can receive rebirth through belief and faith in God and Jesus, why did Jesus have to be sacrificed?

    [RAM]
To satisfy two things which none of us can satisfy and survive

    Justice & Mercy

God Who is the Eternal end Just Judge of all the earth declared that the payment for sin against Him is death. Because of this, all of us in our fallen state are lost and doomed to death and hell because of our iniquity.

This is the justice of God which must be met.

However, God is also All Merciful. Because of this, He satisfied the requirement for justice Himself so that He might extend His grace and mercy to us.

Certainly, God is Almighty and He can do whatever He wills. And He made it clear that this was the plan He had from before the world even began and that in order to show us the riches of His loving kindness toward us who believe.

    [AM]
But if atonement for sin is death, (death of an animal before Jesus and the death of Jesus himself eventually to my understanding) and God sent Jesus to Die for us, why do we still ask for atonement for our sins? It seems that asking forgiveness becomes pointless now that Jesus died for us

    [RAM]
    Atonement or Propitiation

These terms mean satisfying the justice of God. That is important and makes it clear that atonement is related to but different than forgiveness in this way. The payment is complete but the ACCEPTANCE of God’s forgiveness and satisfied payment for the punishment our sins deserve does not extend to those who reject this free gift of God.

Only in the new covenant of Jesus blood do we have the completed atonement, propitiation & payment. So, we who accept this perfect payment for our redemption no longer ask for Him to do what He already completed. We do repent and live in repentance, but His atonement is already complete.

Jesus completed the atonement but most people reject Him for Who He was and is, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world.

Those who reject Him reject the only way for their sins to be fully atoned, propitiated, paid for, washed away, expunged.

    [AM]
What then happens to those who were born before Jesus? Was there a way for them to be fully atoned for and forgiven?

    [RAM]
Yes, scripture is clear that those who knew Messiah was coming and lived by faith with what they knew and followed earnestly after God with all their heart were also justified freely by faith in the LORD and His Messiah. No one ever was or is or shall be justified by works. All those past, present and future who are or will be justified are justified only by God’s grace through faith in the LORD God Who has provided a substitute even as He showed as an earthly example in the case of Abraham.

    [AM]
But even if Jesus was sent as a sacrifice for all of our sins, how does that prove his divinity? It still seems like God sent Jesus to be sacrificed as a human, not as divine. Being divine would make conquering death and all of his miracles have less value, because he should be able to do these things anyway

    [RAM]
The eternal WORD became flesh, and in His humanity He laid aside His fullness in order to take on the human limitations of flesh. Even His parents and family and disciples, even the religious leaders, the scholars and scribes, the experts in the Sharia of Musa did not fully understand though they did know that there was much more hidden in the scriptures even to this day. And He did not reveal everything fully before His death. But then, when everyone saw Him resurrected, that my friend is when the fullness of what had just happened became abundantly clear to everyone including all the leaders and everyone who heard because there was no denying it. This explodes into the book of Acts in full force.

I value spending weekends especially with even more time studying and learning from the scriptures. Would you join me in studying the scriptures this weekend too?

Would you also openly and honestly consider this short video, and honestly consider what is said without a closed ear first but with a genuine open ear to hear what is said and simply consider it on its merit without bias or emotional reaction?

    [AM]
That was a very compelling Video, and I don’t doubt that a few years ago, I would’ve questioned my religion. However, I had one question throughout the entire thing, if the Quran is false because it contradicts the Gospels, are the gospels false because they contradict the Torah? Are they false because they contradict each other? For example, the Old Testament constantly affirms that God is one, he won’t give his Glory to another, and that he’s not a man (1 kings 8:23, Isaiah 42:8, numbers 23:19). But then the New Testament, starting with the Gospel of John, say that Jesus and God are one and that Jesus is the one we should worship. But the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke all affirm that God truly is one and Jesus was a messenger and the messiah that he sent. Each new revelation contradicted the last, so how is the Quran false because it contradicts the Gospel? Even though it claims that the word of God can’t be changed and that we should read the gospel to confirm the Quran, the Gospels themselves contradict the Old Testament

    [RAM]
    God is One

    [AM]
    Amen
But the New Testament proclaims that Jesus is divine along with the Holy Spirit. At least past the gospel of John

    [RAM]
The oldest text you and I have and share is from 3500 years ago, written by prophet Moses and the third word in that entire text is

    Elohim

    B’resheet bara Elohim et ha’shamayeem v’ et ha’arets
Elohim is the plural of Eloh
So from the third word we have an indication that the Creator is unique and not like we would refer to one of ourselves in the singular

    [AM]
So the world Elohim is plural of Eloh, which I assume means God. Does that not mean that there are multiple Gods?

    [RAM]
Indeed there are many false gods like Hindus pray to but these are actually demons
For us there is but One God, One LORD and Messiah
    Elohim is One

    [AM]
Yet it’s a plural of the word God

    [RAM]
This should stop us just like every Hebrew speaker understood

    Shema Yisrael
    Adonai Elohaynu
    Adonai echad

    Hear Israel
    Lord our Elohim
    Lord One

    [RAM]
The word Elohim itself contradicts its own meaning. In the Quran, God is called Allah الله. In Arabic, the word Allah cannot be prescribed to a plural, a gender, or an object. It’s the perfect word In Arabic to describe God.

    [RAM]
    Eloh reveals Himself as “We”

    [AM]
But when you look at the Semitic languages, when one great person (ex. A king or queen) refers to themselves as “we” even though it’s one person, it’s called a Royal Plural. They say “we” to emphasize their greatness. This happens in the Quran as well, where when Allah is talking about his greatness or the things he’s done, he refers to himself as “we” but when talking about how he is one, he refers to himself as “I”

    [RAM]
We agree that Eloh is One
We must not reject the WORD of God. He said I and the Father are One.

It would be best not to make the same mistake Saul of Tarsus did before God knocked him down. Saul was fighting and opposing the LORD and His people.

In other words, those who reject Messiah would be best to reject Him.

God forbid that they spread a lie that He did not say what He said.

This is the same lie Satan used in the garden. He questioned the clear WORD of God and by doing so caused doubt in the heart of man by saying, “Did God really say…?” And “You shall not surely die…”

Those who persist in rejecting the scriptures and God’s clear WORD would be better to be honest and simply reject the scripture, Messiah and salvation rather than promulgating a deception and a lie that claims to believe in the scriptures and Messiah while rejecting what the scriptures say and Who Messiah is by His own WORD.
