Psalm 139
Have you ever read Psalm 139? Most who read this have certainly read it. Perhaps you have not yet. Would you read it now? Before reading further, let us all read the entirety of Psalm 139 right now.
Reading Psalm 139:1-24…

Now, we have all read Psalm 139.
There is so much here. So incredibly much.
Likely the most well known and most referenced verses are the passage 13-16, and justifiably so.
Likely the least known and least referenced verses are the passage 19-22.
This passage is couched between 2 somewhat more familiar and referenced passages 17-18 and 23-24.
It is not for no reason. These two passages greatly aid grappling with the middle passage and may well be key to understanding this passage, especially from a new covenant perspective. These passages also expressly align with and complete the entire Psalm which begins with the contemplative introductory opening reflection on thoughts.
In this Psalm, we encounter the thoughts of man contrasted with the thoughts of God.
We also have some fresh thoughts in mind from an in depth group study and discussion of the first 2 chapters of Genesis including specific reflections on Elohim, Ruach Elohim & YHVH Elohim.
In this Psalm, the man of Judah grapples with anxious thoughts which are in conflict with each other. Here we read conflicting thoughts of man on one hand regarding the evil thoughts and intentions of wicked men. What we learn from the WORD, is that all mankind is desperately wicked. However, we learn of the God Man the thoughts of the LORD YHVH. He is the One who taught us the thoughts of God regarding such evil men with evil intentions and evil works.
