1 Corinthians 7

Released To Serve

An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife— and his interests are divided. I am saying this for your own good…that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:32‭b,33-34a,35a,c

Concerned with, focused on, preoccupied with, cares about…

These describe a married man’s ordinary stance toward his wife and family. This does bind him more toward the world than to the LORD. By God’s grace, a brother in the LORD can discern this by God’s Spirit and be released from inordinate concern for the things of this world.

By this grace, this brother can turn from these to a liberty by which he will be released. He will be released from his frustrated concern for his wife and family’s worldly cares in order to become the servant of all.

This servant of all will be in keeping with the servant leadership which JESUS revealed. In this way, such a brother will much more fully meet the needs of all those around him, including the brotherhood, including wife and children in the brotherhood.

Many ministry leaders have always thought they had to be called pastor or some other ministry title. However, as this is in contrast to what Jesus clearly instructed, there is Good News!

Regardless what you have learned or heard in the past, we are released to accept fully everything that Jesus instructed us. You ministry leaders are released, yes commanded, if you prefer, but released to be called brothers, to be brothers, to live as brothers together in Christ.

You brothers are released to go deeper in your walk with JESUS, to walk with Him in unity together, to admonish each other in the LORD, to listen to His voice, to identify His calling in each of you for ministry, meaning service. We are released to walk this out together and to pursue His calling on each of us as brothers.

Thank you JESUS!

Interrupting Service

Do you recognize the errors in your own heart, in your own fellowship in your own midst? Most likely not. This is why we are to be open to public rebuke, with hearts like the Ninevites, quick to repent in sackcloth and ashes, quick to respond in brokenness and contriteness of heart.

Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Revelation 2:5

A Revelation of the Scroll

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read…Luke 4:16

Understand how many bristle at hearing God’s WORD when He interrupts their activities, their religious acts of service.

Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the Lord. 2 Chronicles 34:27

These things are not distant from us. They are abundant and right in our own midst.

So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present…1 Corinthians 5:4

Error abounds right within, and we must cease our fine sounding arguments and services, and return to the LORD in keeping with His WORD.

What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. 1 Corinthians 14:26‭, ‬40

When you hear and see such things, recognize the LORD Himself Who walks in the midst of the camp.

An Ancient & Deviant Cult

Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.

Imagine you knew only the way of JESUS and no major world religions and then you heard of an ancient religion which had many different objects of prayer including a heavenly queen and a multitude of similar individual entities for directing various different types of prayer for different problems, needs, requests.

Only because it became so vast and powerful beginning in the early centuries and continuing to grow and incorporate more and more people under its influence, only because it is so familiar and commonly known, only for these reasons and others like them including spiritual blindness to what is familiar do most fail to recognize just how idolatrous and deviant the ancient Roman Jesus cult really is.
