Where are the SL Men?

WTW 2021
SL Men

This is a significant topic which welcomes ongoing delving for further and daily application.

Even with the focus on marriage, we are also not to forget the very real instruction from both JESUS and Paul regarding our relationship with God taking primacy to our relationship with even our wife. This is never to be misconstrued one way or the other, whether for lording it over our wife, nor for relinquishing our God given responsibility to be the servant leader.

There is more to say about all these things…

For example, one young person has been asking numerous times in the past couple months about that instruction that women are not to be in authority over men. For some, this may seem to be at least somewhat shocking given their perception of the rest of scripture.

Nevertheless, consider this key concept

Servant Leader

We should paint a bit wider picture of the way things actually are in life and how the rules of man and woman actually impact marriage and family and community and culture.

Here is an intentional point, made intentionally less as an argument and more as a challenge.

If a woman is in a place of leadership over men in God’s house, that means that there are men, many men and families and husbands under her authority and leadership…

So then the only question, indeed the only question needed is

Where are the Servant Leader men?

Men are to be the servant leaders. If a woman is in authority, that means the proper authority structure which is

Servant Leadership

Is not in place because men are to take the lead in

Servant Leadership

The Path of Prudence

Whoever strays from the path of prudence comes to rest in the company of the dead.

Think for a moment about the word prudence and post the first word that comes to mind.

Have You Heard of JESUS?

WTW 2021

BEWARE!

Do you think righteous living is too strict?

Have you heard of JESUS?

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery [moicheia]* with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Matthew 5:28‭-‬29

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral [porneia],* those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

*NOTE: Porneia is broader than moicheia. That is to say sexual immorality in Rev 21:8 includes adultery and more.

May God draw us closer to Himself in His righteousness.

5 Jewels, 1 Story

We talk about wisdom in the WORD.

We have access to so much wisdom in the WORD, we are easily spoiled, overfed, to the point we take for granted and do not even value, treasure, appreciate and hold dear this great wisdom we have calling us from these pages every day. Wisdom calls out, “Come to me.”

When we do come we often come to the easy pickings, to find the gleanings at the corners of the fields where they were left for us, the foreigner, gleanings from the ground. There are even more treasuries buried beyond, in the depth of the field, nuggets most will never discover because they only venture to the edges of the field at most and never go in days at a time to look deeper and learn the contours of the land, to find those special hidden lodes, those secret watering holes.

Here are just a few rare nuggets.

The crucible for silver🥈 and the furnace for gold,🥇 but Yahweh tests the heart ❤.

Evil will never leave the house 🏠 of one who pays back evil for good.

Why should fools have money 💰 in hand to buy wisdom, when they are not able to understand it?

Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate 🔒 invites destruction.

A discerning person keeps wisdom 💡 in view, but a fool’s eyes 👀 wander to the ends of the earth.

Proverbs 17:3‭, ‬13‭, ‬16‭, ‬19‭, ‬24

Paul also wrote words to Timothy of additional wisdom and insight, proverbs, parables, paroimia and paronomasia. There are treasures beyond imagination waiting to be discovered.

Wisdom is calling.

Let’s answer that daily call!

The Inner man

Proverbs 16

The Inner man

To man belong the plans of the heart, but from Yahweh comes the proper answer of the tongue. All a man’s ways seem pure to him, but motives are weighed by Yahweh. Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. Proverbs 16:1‭-‬2‭, ‬19

This week, many of us have been considering the LORD’s teaching regarding the way of understanding in His new covenant. On finer points this requires a grasp of terms regarding the inner man. Here are some of those worth considering. We can look at how these are understood in the old and again how they are understood in the new.

OLD
soul (nephesh)
heart (lev)
spirit (ruach)

NEW
body
soul
spirit
flesh
mind
will
heart
inner man
conscience

We come to see in both old and new the vital work of guarding our heart above all things.

In the new, we come to see the struggle between flesh and spirit. We recognize that we live in a conundrum. We require the power of God’s Holy Spirit to overcome the works of the flesh and to have minds controlled by that same Spirit in order to have life and peace.

And so, when we look closely into this perfect law which gives freedom we begin to see that there are relationships among our members. One of these relationships is between our heart and our mind.

• To man belong the plans of the heart
• Yahweh gives the proper answer
• Motives are weighed by Yahweh.
• Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.

We live in a mystery, but we need not understand fully in order to walk this highway of holiness. All we need do is surrender to JESUS to receive newness of spirit by grace through faith. Then, our inner man will desire sanctification. This will take place as we continue in His perfect WORD which has power to transform our hearts by the renewal of our minds.

LORD, grant that we may walk worthy of Your Name today!

Love Discipline

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.
Proverbs 12:1

LORD, help us live righteously so that we have no choice but to lean on You to stand.

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Understanding God’s Work

Katartizó, katartismos
To arrange, set in order, fit together, put in order, knit, sew together, mend, fix, restore, prepare, repair, adjust, bring to fitness, align, restore to soundness, complete, perfect, resolve, make whole

By faith we understand that the universe was formed (katartizó) at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Hebrews 11:3

Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body (sōma) you prepared (katartizó) for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—I have come to do your will, my God.’ ”
Hebrews 10:5‭-‬7

Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—but my ears (ōzen) you have opened (karita)—burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.
Psalm 40:5‭-‬10

For you created (qanita) my inmost being (kilyotay); you knit me together (tesukeni) in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame (atsemi) was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together (ruqamti) in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body (galemi); all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.
Psalm 139:13‭-‬18

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip (katartismos) his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:4‭, ‬11‭-‬16

This just opened up

My ears you have opened, fixed, prepared, repaired, knit together…

Honest Scales

The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.
Proverbs 11:1

We reflect on this, and can easily see examples of dishonesty all around us. We see dishonesty in business, and we could find dishonest practices that involve scales easily, produce scales in the grocery stores involving cashiers, customers at self checkout, truckers modifying scale logs, jewelers weighing out precious metals, inaccurate odometers, inaccurate tax filings. Just a tiny bit of reflecting and we can think of inaccurate weights and measurements all around us…

All AROUND us…

All around us?

How is my heart?

Does my heart use any inaccurate scaling, measuring, judging, evaluating? Do I use any inaccurate power scales in relationships causing conflicts with the Truth as well as in relationships and in my own heart conflicts?

God, help us as we look into the perfect law which brings freedom and to see our own hearts so that we can see more clearly every day in order to walk uprightly with you and to bring this salvation of your grace to every man.

The Disciplined Life

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
Proverbs 10:17

I am reflecting on JESUS life of perfect holiness and righteousness AND real love and grace to welcome those bound by sin in order to save, deliver and transform them. Every man chooses one or the other: holiness or sinfulness. We need JESUS to empower us to walk like him in perfect holiness which by definition is Emmanuel, God with us. We are to be the double agents of God with us, not secret agents, but double agents of grace and righteousness.

Heavenly Father,
Pour out Your Holy Spirit on us, and fill us so we can walk in the fullness of Your power, love and holiness.

We live in the shadow of eternity

___

This message has gone out to a couple people and is going out to some more shortly regarding real life, right here, right now.

_____

Sitting at the precious feet of JESUS our one and only eternal lover of our souls

Looking at Matthew 19:9

And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

_____

So here if you have the case of a perfect and holy man whose wife is a prostitute. He can divorce her. But because he is a perfect and holy man, he knows that his marriage covenant is for life so he will not.

The man who is not perfect in holiness whose wife is not a prostitute but who is also wayward in her thoughts and affections, just like him, will not divorce his wife because he knows that they are both equally unfaithful to the life-long marriage covenant of God.

The wife who is not perfect but is surrendered to God and not unfaithful to her lifelong marriage covenant vows before God and in the presence of many witnesses will absolutely not divorce her husband because she knows they are both equally unfaithful to their lifelong marriage covenant before God in the presence of many witnesses.

A man or a woman who seeks a divorce is one who is unfaithful and without perfection before God and must not so much as dare to throw a grain of sand, let alone a stone, a rock or so much as a piece of paper.
