Understand the back story behind the lake of fire.

Ahaz started the fire and it has turned back on his head and all who reject God’s commands and walk in the evil way. Manasseh also continued the fire but after severe punishment, he repented and destroyed many of his previous idolatrous works. Later Josiah completed the purification of the idolatry from ha’aretz.

He Shall Be Like That Tree

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord , and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1‭-‬3

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. Proverbs 11:30

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon. Hosea 14:2‭, ‬5‭-‬6

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1‭-‬2

Amen and Amen.

An Introduction to Unity & Division

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions (Gr. schismata – rips) among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels (Gr. eris – strife) among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas ”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided (Gr. merízo – portioned)? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?
1 Corinthians 1:10‭-‬13

In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions (Gr. schismata – rips) among you, and to some extent I believe it. No doubt there have to be differences (Gr. haireseis – factions) among you to show which of you have God’s approval. So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat, for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter!
1 Corinthians 11:17‭-‬22

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division (Gr. schisma – rips) in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:21‭-‬27

[Pray While You Still Can]

Here are the questions for each of us today:

What will be our legacy?

What are my prayers?

What is your life story?

History does not go on for ever.

HIS story does go on forever.

But our books here come to an end.

Our seasons change, our months come to a close, a grand finale. How will our Book 2 Prayers close?

May our legacy be HIS story.

Soul Bondages

WTW 2021
29 September
Psalm 69

Soul Bondages & Soul Bandages

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. Psalm 69:1‭-‬2‭

In small group last night, we discussed for some time the role of fasting in breaking bondages. In the course of this focus, the insight came up that bondages are in souls all around us. These are like thousands of idols holding people captive in chains of slavery. All these are needing to be broken and set free for their and our eternal deliverance and salvation.

When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn; when I put on sackcloth, people make sport of me. But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters. Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me. Psalm 69:10‭-‬11‭, ‬13‭-‬15

This is an urgent matter for greater, immediate and daily attention because souls are at stake, the eternal destination of souls.

The Spirit of Lord Yahweh is on me, because anointed [Messiah] has Yahweh me to proclaim good news [evangelize L4:18] to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1

Show Us Your Power

WTW 2021

Psalm 68

Show Us Your Power

Your procession, Elohim, has come into view, the procession of my Elohim and King into the sanctuary. In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the young women playing the timbrels. Praise Elohim in the great congregation; praise YHVH in the assembly of Israel. There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah’s princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali. Summon your power, Elohim; show us your strength, our Elohim, as you have done before. Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may the beast bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to Elohim. Sing to Elohim, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to YHVH, to him who rides across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens, who thunders with mighty voice. Proclaim the power of Elohim, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens. You, Elohim, are awesome in your sanctuary; Elohim of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to Elohim!
Psalms 68:24 – 35

Fresh Koinonia

“Deep fellowship, koinonia, has been fragmented. The effort to restore and maintain some degree of it consistently has been significant.

“It feels like pieces are scattered and that only some are committed to restoring it.

“Contentment with this brokenness has set in. Seemingly some have given up on it, tired of pursuing it and coming up short.

“Or maybe what they had before and characterized as koinonia was not what it should be, and new wineskins are needed.

“WTW is a new wineskin of sorts. Not a permanent one, but like a tent of meeting or tabernacle, filling an obvious void in connectedness and coming together around God and His Word.”
