Insights from Haram
A reflection on morning readings

A personal history of, proximity to and familiarity with the Muslim communities in Hamtramck and Dearborn have provided a real understanding of haram. An even longer knowledge of the Mosaic “devoted things” footnotes now clicks together for my first time today connecting these understandings through the Semitic words.

A wide view of the concept and history of these purification societies form this newly forming reflection.

For now, this sheds additional light on understanding the perspectives involved in the life, ministry and teachings of Yeshua within the context of his contemporary religious Jews including the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees.

Reading Numbers 21-25 and all the Peor incident passages, combines with the understanding of haram to connect through Yeshua’s interaction with the woman at the well (Jn 4, not to be confused with the pericopae encounter) all the way to Peter’s chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, peculiar people.

He has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Our heritage begins as a Purification Society and culminates in the impartation of divine holiness.

Those who have had purification deeply embedded and ingrained in their spirit from infancy may revolt at the removal of purification rites, laws and traditions until they see that the standard of righteousness remains the same and provides an eternal Way to purification.

Blessings,
Bro Randy
